Online Test Drive : Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

Mitsubishi fast Test Online Test Drive : Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

Now you can take a test drive from the comfort of your couch. All you need is the internet and you can drive a real Outlander Sport during the Mitsubishi Live Drive, the world’s first online test drive.

Mitsubishi and advertising agency 180LA are working with a team of robotics experts and software developers to outfit a real Outlander Sport so that it can be driven live on the website OutlanderSport.com. Beginning November 2nd, visitors to the site will get a chance to drive the Outlander Sport in real-time on a course in Southern California. Each driver will have full control of the car within the boundaries of the course.

This event is a technological first. But the idea did not begin with technology, it came from a desire to change the way people shop for a car. Instead of insisting that consumers visit a dealership to experience a car, we wanted find a way to bring the Outlander Sport to them.

Of course, when you give someone control of a car they’re not in, the first thing they’ll want to do is crash it. This is just one of many challenges the team faced while developing this experience. The answer to this particular challenge is a sophisticated GPS system that tracks the car’s every movement and automatically takes control of the vehicle if it is driven outside the boundaries of the course.

Driving View Online Test Drive : Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

The same GPS system plays a central role in allowing consumers to collect “features” during their drive. Large icons painted on the course represent various features on the Outlander Sport, and consumers will be asked to drive over these GPS hotspots to collect as many feature icons as they can during their drive.

2011 Mitsubishi CS Concept created by Gábor Farkas. The design concept revives the Colt CA (92-96) with a touch of the C50 (88-92) model at the front, wrapped in Mitsubishi’s new jet-fighter design language. Almost production ready-looking concept study penned as a replacement for the Mitsubishi Colt supermini

Called the Mitsubishi CS, the Ford Fiesta-sized concept model blends select styling cues from the Japanese brand’s most recent models such as the Lancer’s so-called shark nose with an aggressive body shape boasting curvalicious details.

“I had some time to speculate and this is how I imagine a Colt successor that Mitsubishi fans could like. When designing the conceptCS, the main goal was to summon the spirit of its ancestors.” Gábor Farkas said.

Less concept approach is continued in the interior which is partially inspired by the Outlander Sport (called ASX in Europe and RVR in Japan).

The last generation Mitsubishi : Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart, and Mitsubishi Outlander GT. All-Wheel Control, born of the brand’s famous rallying lineage, is one of Mitsubishi’s prized technologies and now includes a separate, more performance tuned Super All-Wheel Control system (S-AWC). Extensive testing and re-calibration in nearly every feasible climate and terrain have lead to the two distinct setups. Though mechanically unique, the differences between each AWC are actually relatively small. Collectively, they’re focused on creating better handling, plus safer and more predictable vehicles for consumers.

Mitsubishi first shows us the new 2010 Outlander GT. It uses S-AWC with an active front differential that controls the speed differences between the front wheels. It also gets electronic four-wheel drive that distributes power and torque to the rear wheels. Instead of using the electro-hydraulic components that the Evo employs, engineers opted for electro-magnetic replacements in an effort to reduce parasitic drivetrain loss and bump up fuel economy. Tarmac, Snow, or Lock modes optimize torque distribution depending on terrain.
