BMW has opened a new chapter in the tradition of open-top cars. The 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible will go on sale in the Spring of 2011 in the United States. Final pricing, options, and packages will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

With the BMW 6-Series Coupe Concept debuting at the 2010 Los Angeles International Auto Show as its backdrop, BMW announced the production-ready 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible. In the premium convertible market, the 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible presents a convincing case with the most advanced chassis technology and most innovative comfort, infotainment and safety features.

A sweeping hood, aft-set passenger compartment, long wheelbase and muscular profile embody the hallmark proportions of a BMW Convertible. The new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible combines these features with a classic soft-top roof with flying buttress design. Powerfully contoured surfaces of its lines promise the anticipated BMW driving experience. The luxurious ambience of the interior is highlighted by a driver-oriented cockpit which wraps the front and rear passengers in a feeling of aesthetic security. Nowhere is the high-class functionality of the interior underlined more prominently than in the redesigned freestanding 10.2" Central Display of the standard iDrive control system.

The 4.4-liter V-8 engine develops a maximum 400 hp between 5,500 and 6,400 rpm, and makes peak torque of 450 lb-ft between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm (preliminary). This unique "reverse-flow" engine, whose turbochargers are positioned in the V-area between the cylinder banks, produces an instantaneous and sustained wave of power, making it an energetic delight for the enthusiast driver. Instantaneous power and torque are the stand-out features of the V-8 engine available of the new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible. The engine combines sporting character with outstanding smoothness, linear power delivery, and exceptional efficiency. The engine can be paired with either BMW's new 8-speed Sport Automatic gearbox or BMW's traditional 6-speed manual transmission, quite popular with North American enthusiasts.
The 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible completes the sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds with the manual transmission (4.9 seconds with the 8-speed automatic), and top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. This engine also boasts extraordinary efficiency for a model in its output class. EPA figures will be available closer to the on-sale date in 2011.

The 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission fitted to the new BMW 650i Convertible boasts a perfect combination of speed, flexibility, sportiness, and efficiency. Its minimal torque converter slip and rapid gear changes set it apart. An innovative gear set configuration allows this transmission to offer eight gears, optimizing the sprinting power yet allowing the driver to save fuel by driving at low revs. Naturally, the driver can choose to select gears manually via shift paddles on the standard Sport leather steering wheel.

The new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible is the first car in its class that can be equipped with Integral Active Steering. This system combines the Active Steering system for the front axle (available on the previous generation 6-Series Convertible) with a new, steerable rear axle. Precisely harmonized steering angle movements at both axles create a virtual lengthening or shortening of the vehicle's wheelbase, which fosters greater high-speed stability and enhanced maneuverability for parking and city use.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
Like its predecessor, the new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible is the only vehicle in its class with an optional Head-Up Display system. By projecting important information onto the windshield, directly in the driver's line of sight, the Head-Up Display minimizes distraction from the road and traffic. The new-generation system brings a further improvement in display quality: the symbols are projected as three-dimensional graphics and in ultra-clear resolution onto the windshield. Full-color capability makes the road sign symbols even more realistic. At the same time the Head-Up Display is now able to present a wider range of information. Depending on vehicle specification, guidance information supplied by the Navigation system, Check Control messages, status messages from the Lane Departure Warning System and warnings from the BMW Night Vision system can all be shown in the Head-Up Display. The positioning of the messages on the windshield is highly ergonomic, so that drivers are aware of them without having to refocus or take their eyes off the road.
2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible
The new 2012 BMW Sport Cars 650i Convertible is built at the BMW plant in Dingolfing, Germany. Also rolling off the assembly line at the BMW Group's largest production plant are the BMW 7-Series and BMW 5-Series models. The flexible and efficient processes at the plant combine state-of-the-art production technology with a standard of quality defined by meticulous craftsmanship in the manufacture of premium cars configured to customer requirements.

BMW 1 Series M Coupe 2011

The BMW 1 Series M Coupe: Bringing Back the Thrill of Driving

Driving down the autobahn one might see a sleek blur flash by. That blur, the 1 Series M Coupe, is the latest in the line of the high performance M series by BMW which is renowned for their track speed contained in a street-legal form. BMW enthusiasts will be delighted to hear this car is drawing comparisons to the extremely popular 1988 E30 M3, which is one of the more famous models that BMW has produced. Looking at this car from its flared fender to twin, dual tailpipes you see a car designed for racing and one with a history steeped in racing.
With all BMWs the quality starts with the engine, in this case a 3.0L inline six cylinder engine with BMW's TwinPower Turbo technology and direct fuel injection pushes out 335 horsepower with a torque of 332 ft-lbs over a broad rpm range of 1500-4500 rpms. When using the turbo boost function you can get an extra 37ft-lbs of temporary torque added onto that giving you even more power at your disposal. A 6-speed manual transmission that is known for its even, smooth, dual disk clutch, and short throws allows you to shift quickly to get up to speed. With a blazing 4.7 second 0-60mph time one certainly gets up to speed quickly. The car has an electronically limited max speed of 155mph allowing you to get up to any legal limit in the USA. Weighing in at a slim 3362 lbs, making it 342 lbs lighter than the M3 series, allows the car to have better handling and faster acceleration. The M Compound Disk brakes allow for rapid de-acceleration and boast quick stopping times. In addition to great brakes, BMW also offers M Variable Differential Locks which provides traction by detecting speed differences in the rear-wheel drive and kicking in to provide the best grip and handling possible.
This model also comes standard with BMW's innovative and revolutionary Dynamic Stability Control which kicks in with a loss of tire traction, but with a push of a button you can activate M Dynamic Mode which allows you to turn this off and get better cornering and tighter handling. With a track as wide as the M3 with a competition package and 51.7/48.3% weight distribution, the 1 Series M Coupe provides a stable base that allows for excellent cornering and razor sharp turning. The 1 Series M Coupe's aerodynamic design is built with large air inlets to cool its powerful engine, special air curtains that reduce wind turbulence around the wheels, and its rear spoiler reduces lift at high speeds to get maximum performance out of the design. Even with all of those high performance options, fuel economy is still not compromised as the engines provide a highly efficient, EPA estimated, 19/26mpg (city/highway). The combined features make the 1 Series M Coupe a thrill to drive as it provides the highest levels of performance for a car of this class.
Aside from being a high powered, racing machine the 1 Series M Coupe also provides a number of creature comforts and features to make your drives easier and more comfortable. The sport front seats provide standard manually adjustable thigh support and electronically powered side bolster support. Also provided is an automatic climate control system that along with the seat controls is saved with the user's settings and set to go once the car is started. The car also provides an on-board computer that provides travel range on remaining fuel, average/specific efficiency, external temperature (including freezing temperature warning), and instant velocity. Automatic rain sensing wipers also activate headlights and the side mirrors are heated to provide maximum visibility and safety while driving. In addition to the standard seatbelts and airbags, the 1 Series M Coupe also provides advanced safety options such as their Head Protection System in the front and rear, bumper system with compressible elements, crash sensors that unlock doors, and remove connectors of the alternator, fuel pump, and starter from the battery. All of that is coordinated by BMW's Advanced Safety System which integrates all these features to give you one of the safest rides on the road.
The BMW 1 Series M Coupe comes with all of the features above for $46,135 and has other options that you can add on. Some of those options include iPod and Bluetooth connections, heated seats, navigation system, and many others. Fully loaded with all options this car comes out to $54,360 making it fun, comfortable, and affordable ride.

BMW Series 1

Check Out The 2010 BMW 1 - Series

The 2010 BMW 1-series is an upscale small car, which is consistently rated among the best of all luxury small cars.  The 1-series comes in two different trims, which are 128i and the 135i.  The 128i is a sedan and the 135i is a convertible.

Engine options within the 2010 BMW 1-series are limited.  Both the 128i and 135i trims come with a 3.0 liter six cylinder engine.  While the engine is the same for both trims of the 2010 vehicle, the horsepower produced is quite different.  The 128i produces 230 horsepower, while the 135i produces a staggering 300 horsepower.  With the 300 horsepower, the 2010 vehicle trim 135i can run from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.1 seconds.

Each trim within the vehicle comes with a standard 6 speed manual transmission.  For an upgrade of $1,325, a 6 speed automatic transmission can be purchased.  For a further performance upgrade, purchasers of the vehicle can select a turbocharged gas engine.  Purchasing a turbo charged gas engine will cost between $5,000 and $7,000 depending on trim and model.

EPA for the automobile has not been analyzed yet, but the 2010's engine is almost an identical engine as the 2009 automobile.  The 2009 vehicle had fuel economy of 17 to 18 miles per gallon for city driving and 25 to 28 miles per gallon for highway driving.  Theses fuel efficiency ratings are among the best for small luxury high performance cars so buyers should be quite pleased with this performance.
